Nestled in the lovely village of Canning under the shadow of the North Mountain and overlooking the dykes of the Minas Basin, the Farmhouse Inn offers you the perfect headquarters for your exploration of the Bay of Fundy and Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia.
Once you are settled comfortably into one of our cozy suites, you may be tempted to relax on the front porch swing with a cup of tea or glass of wine. But after a delicious, homemade breakfast, you’ll be ready to explore the many breathtaking sights of the Annapolis Valley, just minutes from the door of the Inn.
Cape Split Trail – The Cape Split Trail offers a great hike to a spectacular view of one of Nova Scotia’s most famous rock formations. This can be a long walk for the un-experienced hiker, but it is well worth the trip.
High (and low) tides of the Bay of Fundy – The best places to experience the ebb and flow of the world’s highest tides are just down the road at Kingsport Beach, up over the hill at Scott’s Bay, and across the North Mountain at Hall’s Harbour (where you can also taste some fabulous fresh lobster!)
Blomidon Provincial Park – Rising majestically from the shores of the Minas Basin, this scenic wilderness park offers a place to hike, picnic, or camp amid spectacular views. It is also one of the best spots to see Fundy’s high tides.
Numerous wineries – Nova Scotia is one of Canada’s up-and-coming wine regions, boasting lovely and unusual cool-climate varietals that are worth discovering – especially because they are difficult to source outside of the province!
And much more – The Lookoff gives you an amazing view of the dykes of the Minas Basin; learn about the history of the Acadian people at the Grand Pre Historical Site; treat yourself to organic produce and baked goods at the Wolfville Farmers’ Market; learn what life was like on a Nova Scotian farm 150 years ago at the New Ross Living Farm… the list goes on!
We encourage you to stay for several days to make sure you don’t miss out on the Valley’s hidden gems. Innkeeper Andrea is passionate about the area and is happy to provide information or itineraries to help you get the most from your visit to The Valley.
